...t the Johannes Kepler University: There are 64 insitutes at the univeristy with 117 professors, 308 assistants, 413 normal employees and 18 academic employees. That amounts to 856 university staff members. Visitors: The university campus is also visited by many people from the neighboorhood strolling around the beautiful park grounds. These people are usually young mothers and retired persons. This group is the last and smallest target group of our enterprise. Alltogether we can sum up 21.000 potential customers for our sausage stand. Quality: The sausage stand “At The Corner” only serves best quality sausage products and beverages. The sausage products are bought from the renowned butcher´s shop “Wegscheider” in Puchenau. With these high quality products we can even please our very critical customers. The drinks we serve our consumers are also of a high quality, e.g. Stiegl beer and Römerquelle mineral water. The poor students as our main target group will receive a high quality snack for their small budget. Competition: The main competion on the market are the canteens. The canteen on the university campus and the canteen at the catholic student religious society are the main competitors since they are in the vincinity of our sausage stand. The canteens should not be considered a direct competition but as fellow competitors in a different market segment. A student visiting the canteen has enough time to walk to the canteen, choose a menu, wait in the row and lastly sit down to enyoy his meal. Our main target group are stressed students under time pressure who only want to have a snack while passing by. The canteens are also only opened for one and a half hours a day. Our sausage stand will be opened a full nine hours dayly. The café Sassi, also on the university campus, can not be considered as a direct competitor since it is also positioned in another market segment. The café Sassi is a comfortable meeting point for students who want to talk to peers and maybe also casually flirt. The café Chat can be considered as a direct competitor since they also serve snacks to take away. Rumours maintain that the café will be closed shortly. The main products sold are sandwiches which are completely different to the products sold at our sausage stand. The sausage stand at the tramway station has another target group. The main customers of this sausage stand are workers from the neighboorhood. The students consuming snacks there will be wooed away eventually by our sausage stand. “At The Corner” will be a mainly student attended sausage stand on the campus, where students can meet peers and have a quick chat during their snack. Creating a positive atmosphere is the main aim and method to leave behind all other competitors.
