Team Mascot Names: Offensive or Not?
... supported FSU's use of their mascot and the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe also supposrted CMU's mascot, the "Chippewa". FSU was forced to stop traditions in their football stadium durring games, and were threatened by the NCAA if they did not change their mascot name. I don't see why their should be any big deal about these team's mascots. I don't see this hurting anybody, or causing any real problems. So, I disagree with the banning of these mascots name, and any further actions on the names. None of these names were made to be racial at all, or insult any Native American Tribes. The only name I can see comming near this at all is the Washington Redskins, but we all know this name wasen't made to insult the Native Americans. It's simple a mascot.
