...thello demands to see visual evidence. While Iago says this is impossible, he promises to show Othello circumstantial evidence. The first bit of evidence that Iago shares with Othello is that while sleeping, Cassio called out Desdemona’s name, and kissed Iago, thinking he was Desdemona. With this, Othello says that the only way he will believe this is true is if he sees Cassio wiping his beard with the handkerchief. At this, Iago decides to plant the handkerchief in Cassio’s room. Othello is now very gullible to everything Iago says about Desdemona and Cassio, because he is very jealous. Being very curious, one day Othello asks Desdemona to lend him her handkerchief. When she can’t produce it, he becomes outraged and shares the story of the handkerchief with her. Othello is now very worried about the affair. He demands Iago to share anything he knows about the situation. Iago, being the evil villain he is, decides to get Cassio to talk about Bianca, and her love for him. Othello is told by Iago to hide in the corner and to listen. Othello believes that the conversation that Iago and Cassio are having is about Desdemona. Cassio laughs at the fact that Bianca is in love with him, and completely downgrades the relationship. Sitting in the corner, Othello is outraged. Why is Cassio doing this to him? Othello now becomes very angry with everyone, because he thinks that his wife no longer loves him. Every time Othello talks to Desdemona, he asks her if she has prayed, knowing that he is going to kill her sooner or later. Iago tells Othello that he promises to arrange for the death of Cassio. Just incase things couldn’t get any worse, Othello is ordered by the duke to report back to Venice, and to leave Cassio as his replacement.
