...life was very upsetting during this time. Imagine people dying right beside you. People you have known all your life are dead. This was my reality not fantasy, not that this should be anybodies fantasy. I hope nobody has to go through what I did. If they do they should get some help from some counselors. “My mom said I have to go to school tomorrow as long as nobody gets shot. I hope nobody does though. I am not a big fan of school but I still do not somebody dead. Sure, there are a couple of people I dislike but I do not want them killed. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to hurt somebody else. If I had to kill somebody I could not do it.” Violence can sprout from many areas. The bottom line of it all though is that people want to belong. Some kids are not sure enough of themselves that they follow the crowd to look cool. Other kids had bad parenting so they try other ways to belong in this turmoil of a world. There are millions of reasons why people would want to belong. If you think about it that is the main root for violence not just youth violence. If you can make everybody belong then, in theory, you can stop violence. “Today we had to write an essay about if we could change something in the world. I said I would get rid of violence especially youth violence. I think that the best people to get rid of youth violence are the youth. Teenagers will just blow something if it is put on by adults, but if it is put on by kids then more of them listen.
