After this team created a proposal with all figures prepared and the teams’ recommendation the management team would meet to discuss the timeline for closure. Once the timeline for closure was decided upon the management team would then discuss all options for employee benefits to continue for 30 days after closing, and COBRA benefits being offered after that time. I would also discuss the possibility of conducting career placement services rather than the 30 day option of benefits and leaving the COBRA plans in place, in order to ease employees’ fears of loosing their jobs. I would take as much responsibility for the loss of jobs in the community and take in to consideration that all employees have families to support and have just as much at stake in the closing of the plant as the business itself. I would make all attempts to extend all possible help that I could financially afford to the people that worked for me. As far as notifying the employees and the community, I would first and foremost notify the employees in a briefing allowing them to ask questions and also inform them of all the information I was able to give. After notifying the employees I would then notify the press and local community, the closing would affect the surrounding area greatly by increasing unemployment and demands for assistance from the government if workers are not reemployed within a short time.
