While Allie was with Noah the feelings she had buried deep within herself rose to the surface. On the third day that Allie was with Noah, her fiancé, Lon, came looking for her. She had two coices: Go with Lon or stay with Noah. She struggled with the decision until she saw Lon standing in the lobby of her hotel. She decided to stay with Noah, proving that love could win out even after many years of separation The years went by and Noah and Allie had a happy life together. Then one day, they found out Allie had Alzheimer's. As Allie's condition rapidly deteriorated, they were forced to sell their house and move into a nursing home. Slowly, but surely Allie lost all of her memories. She didn't know where she was, who she was, or who Noah was. Even so, Noah would come to Allie's room everyday and read the story of their life to her. He did this because he wanted Allie to recover some of her former self. Usually this was unsuccessful, but sometimes Noah could bring back the Allie he once knew. He could bring back the Allie he loved.
