Another reason why Laurier is a bad prime minister is because of the Boer War. Laurier did not want to help our allies Britain. Laurier did not want to want to get involved with the Boer war even though Britain was in it. The only thing Laurier did was pay for the equipment and passage of 1000 volunteers who wanted to go join in the war. The English and French Canadians were upset from Laurier’s response to the war because he wasn’t doing much to contribute to the war. Laurier did not care for no one but himself because if really cared about the British he would have done more than just pay for equipment. When a country in need of his help asked he refused and turned the cheek. In 1890, Wilfred Laurier removed Catholic schools from Manitoba. This is bad because he is only letting French being taught 1 hour per day. This can cause a French person to lose their background and heritage. This wasn’t a good compromise because it made English children learn French and French people learn English. He should have just let schools teach different languages because it will be hard for both kinds to adapt to each others languages. They would have the same amount of privileges as new immigrants. That is inappropriate because new immigrants would be entitled to very few privileges so the French Canadians weren’t being treated fairly.
