Media is an achievement but this achievement does carry some negative consequences like diminishing the self-esteem of teens. Teenagers are actual people trying to find purpose and acceptance in this world. What media does is interfere in the teenager’s quest for understanding “who they are?” by telling them what to do and what to look like. How you may ask? Well, the first thing media does is it gets rid of all the fat people in media. By doing this they have eliminated confidence in most over weight teenagers or even adults. These people start worrying sub-consciously about the way they look and become shamed by what they are. Some start to ask questions like “am I strange” if they’re different. How does media respond? By making a statement like “its ok if your different” and “just because you’re a little over weight doesn’t mean your not beautiful”. So if it’s okay to be fat then why aren’t magazines so particularly picky about only putting in the thin ones? Some people aren’t affected as much as others because of their high self-esteem and confidence but others actually start believing the propaganda that the media is portraying...
