I think that if I were to be poverty stricken I would like to be able to provide for myself rather than constantly relying on aid packages for all my life, so for me the better thing to do would be to fund an organization like tear fund, that provide wells for African communities. On the other hand many Christians would say that short term aid is vitally necessary for the immediate survival of many people who have been the victim of natural disasters or who have been forced out of their country into refugee camps by civil war or a corrupt government.In the bible it says give a man a loaf of bread and he will eat for a day, give him a handful of seeds and he will never go hungry. I would use this as the bible saying what its view on the subject is, however I think that short term aid is still necessary. Another way is to fight political injustice by writing to governments and demonstrating peacefully, Jesus never used violence once and he managed to completely change the face of the world and I think that Christians should heed Jesus’ example and try any methods that don’t use violence before resorting to violence. Martin Luther King followed in the steps of Gandhi and managed to get equal rights for black people in America, he did this by taking the moral high ground and making sure he had the media attention that made more people feel that his cause was just.One charity that works for this cause is amnesty international, many Christians chose to support this, even though it is not a Christian charity, because it targets corrupt governments that stop monetary aid coming through, and so in supporting this charity they not only help free political prisoners and demonstrate against corrupt governments, they also make it easier for other charities to get aid to the needy.
