If a person does not know their values and beliefs, how will they know what to do with them? This is very good if you are in a leadership situation where your decisions involve others and directly affect their outcomes. I feel that acting with authenticity and congruency may be the most important principle. In order to be spiritual and maintain spirituality you must be true to that spirituality. Being genuine in your spirituality will lead to being genuine in all aspects of your life. The next thing to think about in incorporating spirituality, is respecting and honoring the beliefs of others. When a person has a strong sense of their beliefs and values, they must also understand and realize that someone else could feel just as strongly about the opposing end. I feel it is important to not back down on your own beliefs while still being able to take in new and challenging beliefs and look at the other side of things. The next step is to be as trusting as you can be. I feel this means to trust yourself and your decisions in the fact that they are right and they were made by your own spirituality. If you do not trust your choices that were made then perhaps it is needed to go back and rethink what your spirituality really is and what it means to you. The final step is maintaining a spiritual practice. To maintain a spiritual practice you must first pick a spiritual practice, whether it be writing in a journal or walking for relaxation.
