Kyle Black Although both the settlers of the New England and Chesapeake regions were from England, by 1700, they had formed into two distinct societies. These regions had very little to do with each other and had also developed very different economies. Despite the settlers’ roots, they shared many differences in their society, religion, communities, and also they were both there for primarily different reKyle Blackasons. People who escaped from England due to religious reasons and sought a place to freely practice their beliefs founded the New England colonies. They sought to establish a pure community where they “must be knit together in this work as one man”. (Document A) This was what their community was based upon. The Articles of Agreement in Massachusetts and the Wage and Price Regulation in Conn. conveyed this by basing the laws around religion and the Bible. (Document D, E) Noticing the structure of the families also conveyed the intolerant and strictness of the society of the New England Colonies.
