Analyzing a composition

The space surrounding these objects, such as the air above and around the trees and the people, is the negative space. In the composition, there are many different types of visual texture; there is texture in the horse’s fur, soft yet sandy and dusty from all of the dirt that their feet rise up from the trail. There is also texture in the rough and sandy dirt that is on the ground. Another example of texture in the composition is in the trees, the rough bark and the smooth and sometimes rough edges on the leaves. Another principle of art that is used in this composition is color. There are many different types of color to address in this composition such as, analogous, complimentary, primary, secondary, intermediate, warm, and cool. In this composition, there are too many different examples of analogous and complimentary colors that tie in together such as the reds and the oranges being analogous, but then the reds are also complimentary with the greens. The oranges are analogous with the yellows, but are complimentary with the blues in the sky. There are many other different examples of analogous and complimentary colors, but too many to name in just one analyzation. Other different types of color in this composition are the primary colors; all of the primary colors, including the primary colors of light are included in this composition. These colors include red, blue, yellow, and green. Secondary colors in this composition are green and orange, and the intermediate colors are blue-green in some of the leaves on the trees, and the red-oranges in the dirt on the foreground. Examples of warm colors in this composition are the reds and the oranges in the dirt, and on the horses, and the yellows that shine in to the middle left of the painting and also near the top of the composition in the sky. Examples of cool colors in the composition are the greens near the tops of the trees and blue that is in the sky near the right side vanishing point on the right of the composition. I think that the emphasis in this composition is focused around the people, the wagons, and the horses that are in the foreground. In this composition, there are different types of contrast.
