There are some oyster shells; some of which contain oysters. In the background there is a dark purple cloth or drape set against a dull, dark coloured wall. The arrangement of the fruit is piled from the centre to the right of the table, with the fish and oysters to the left. On the very left corner of the table there is a pin like object, perhaps a toothpick and an inscription, in very small letters, can be seen on the bottom left of the table. The tonal range of the painting is wide with the main colours being orange, yellow and reds, which gives form to the fruit.
