“Hamlet” by Shakespeare “Hamlet” by Shakespeare is the tragedy that Freud analyses after his discovers on children’s sexuality and on Oedipus complex . Freud explains that “King Oedipus ” by Sofocle and “Hamlet “ by Shakespeare are two very similar texts , because they start in the same way , to evolve in different ways : ““Nell’Edipo , l’infantile fantasia di desiderio che lo sorregge viene tratta alla luce e realizzata come nel sogno ; nell’Amleto permane rimossa e veniamo a sapere della sua esistenza (…) soltanto attraverso gli effetti inibitori che ne derivano . “5 As a matter of fact in “King Oedipus” the protagonist really DOES the incest , while in “Hamlet” the desire remains hidden and you can understand it only from the analysis of Hamlet’s behaviour .
