For example, even more money can be earned, or you can get a better job title. College can help you not only make money but can help you make money doing something you enjoy. Without a degree in something you enjoy, you might have to have a job you completely hate and be miserable. Also, after going to college, more education has been received over the years and you can be more intelligent. Bird states, “you don't have to go to college to read the great books or learn about great ideas of Western Man" but it is more than that. The information that is taught is tested and the professors make sure their students have the proper knowledge they need for the real world. In college, not only are you learning to further your career, other skilled are being perfected. Bird suggests that dorm rooms are "noisy, usually over crowded, and often messy" (48). In some cases Bird may be correct but for example, living on campus and in a dorm room gives a student the opportunity to met and react with different people. When this happens, social skills are being developed. Attending college also teaches adult responsibilities. Students have to go to class on time, do their homework without guidance from their parents. If college is not attended and you move away from home and get a job straight out of high school, it probably would seem too much for an eighteen year old. Learning adult responsibilities...
