...y a monopoly was the Tea Act. The Tea Act was not a tax. Americans were against this law like most of the others and went aboard the British ships and had themselves a little Boston Tea Party. Finally the Intolerable Acts, these acts closed the port of Boston untill the British tea was paid for. The Intolerable Acts also stated if a British soldier killed an American while on duty he will be tried in England. Another thing the Intolerable Acts also stated was the Americans were only allowed one town meeting a year. The Americans began to prepare for war. Once Parliament passed laws Americans opposed, parliament found it necessary to violate Americans rights to enforce the laws. Americans rights were violated by the Writs of Assistance stating that a British soldier could search an American or his house at any time he wanted. If the British soldier didn't like you he could search over and over again. Another way the Americans were violated were by the fact, in court, they were guilty untill proven innocent. In addition the Quartering Act took away the rights of Americans because they had to provide shelter and food for the British Soldiers. The British soldiers began to take the Americans jobs. Lastly rights were taken away from the Americans from the Boston Massacre where only five people died. Finally, Americans had difficulty getting laws changed because they had little say in the British Goverment. One way the British denied the Americans voice in the Goverment was the Declatory Act.
