...became lost in all the chemical words such as monoamines and serotonin. But the article did do a pretty good job in explaining the terms. There were also pictures of the compounds to help explain them even more. The part of this whole article that intrigued me the most was the fact that it is something that happens to people, that they are actually depressed chemically, not just because they want to be sad. The article helped me to understand what actually happens and why. For example, the article explained to me why some people are more likely to be depressed than others. It said it was because of the lack of serotonin in people’s brains. If there is not enough of that chemicals being transmitted in the brain than people are more likely to be sad and depressed. I do not disagree with anything in this article. I think that everything in this article is true because everything that they said there was always a statement or study to back it up. There were a few things that I needed clarification on. One thing that I thought that could have been explained or clarified better was when the article talked about teenagers and depression. The article talked about how it is hard to treat teenage depressions because studies have shown that prescribing the commonly used drugs can increase that teenager’s risk of committing suicide. I do not think that the article touched enough on this topic, because there were only two paragraphs. I learned many things from this article. I learned about the chemical reactions take place and I learned why everything happens when it does. It answered many questions that I have always had, and I think they are questions that everyone wants the answer too. I am satisfied with this article.
