According to document D, Federalists were trying to change many laws so it could benefit them. Since many of the things they proposed were not initially written in the constitution, Federalists felt they had the right to impose this new legislation. Democratic-Republicans were also incorporating Federalists’ ideas and feelings into their own. Federalists felt that they can issue laws that were not written in the Constitution. Thomas Jefferson was a firm believer in the Constitution remaining status quo and untouched but according to document F, he realizes that laws have to change as American society changes.
