Nuclear power

...nt survey, global energy use has risen nearly 70% since 1971 and the speed of ascend is increased steady. A last survey shows that currently, nuclear power supplied near 16% of the world total electricity. Secondly, Nuclear power can save more fuel than ones which burn fossil fuels. For example, one ton of uranium produces more energy than is produced by several million tons of coal or several million barrels of oil. Furthermore, compared to coal and hydroelectric dams, nuclear energy is the safest and cleanest way, from an environmental standpoint. For coal and oil burning plants pollute the air, but well-operated nuclear power plants do not release contaminants into the environment. On the other hand, like all technologies, nuclear power could raise many potential risks of human health and environment. First and foremost, nuclear explosions produce radiation which can make people sick or even kill them, and the illness could be outbreak after many years. Meanwhile nuclear power also can result in many reactors disaster. In 1986, there are a seriously disaster happen in Russia's Chernobyl nuclear power plant. In this incident, a large amount of radiation escaped from the reactor. Hundreds of thousands of people were exposed to the radiation. Several dozen died within a few days. In the years to come, thousands more may die of cancers induced by the radiation. In the next place, Nuclear reactors also have waste disposal problems. Reactors produce nuclear waste products which emit dangerous radiation. Because they could kill people who touch them, they cannot be thrown away like ordinary garbage. Currently, many nuclear wastes are store...
