...ghts that should be allowed to man, who are, under God, created equal. Man was created to enjoy unalienable rights, as stated in the Declaration as “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness”. The colonies felt that they were not being given the opportunity to enjoy these truths. Whenever a government takes away these rights, it is the job of the people to do something about it. In the United States’ case, it was to leave Great Britain and declare its independence. Prudence dictates that long established Governments should not be changed for brief causes. The authors of the Declaration did not directly state that democracy was the best form of government for the country they were declaring independent. However, they clearly inferred it and went about it in a different matter. In several clauses, reasons were stated why a monarchy was not successful, and why they were not happy. They give the present King of Great Britain, the name “He” when referring to the negative things “He” does. Everything “He” did, it is clear that in our democracy today, we do exactly the opposite. The British Monarch held a completely different relationship with the American Legislatures than that of the Legislature in Britain.
