Attendance - All students in the Studio class (section 2) are expected to attend all the scheduled class meetings (on time and for the entire period) and contribute to the discussions. Both Studio and Home students will also be required to participate in online discussions to be found on the WebCT home page for this course. These factors will be taken into account in calculating your final grade. I encourage you to ask questions and make comments regarding the reading material and the lectures. This can make our class meetings more rewarding for all concerned. The main text by Kottak also contains a student CD-ROM with an electronic study guide as well as additional helpful tools which I strongly encourage you to review. The Student's Online Learning Center on the web at: http://www.mhhe.com/kottak-cultural9/ provides additional materials that we will be discussing throughout the quarter. Requirements - There will be two quizzes, a mid-term exam and final comprehensive exam which will contain both objective and subjective questions with an emphasis on short essay questions. Review summaries will be provided prior to the midterm and final exam. There will also be two short research reports; guidelines for the reports are provided below. Make up exams are strongly discouraged and will only be given if absolutely necessary; you MUST discuss it with me beforehand. Extra credit work to improve your grade can be arranged but is not encouraged; again, you MUST come to see me before doing so. Evaluation: Attendance - All students in the Studio class (section 2) are expected to attend all the scheduled class meetings (on time and for the entire period) and contribute to the discussions.
