Lessons To Be Learned

...Algeria were beatings, shocking Algerians repetitive and starving them for weeks sometimes, we see examples of this in the movie “The battle of Algiers.” The war in Iraq is taking the same idea behind the French’s motives; in going out and committing raids and taking insurgents and torturing them to get some form of information out of them, which could help them in finding the leaders of the group that committed terrorist’s acts against the United States, but wait this is exactly why the French forces were going out and capturing Algerians, cause both thought every man was involved in the act. Both “wars” tried to use torture as a means of acquiring information, and both “wars” failed, all torture did was piss people off and got the publics opinion into the open and more aware of human rights, it now was no longer a “quiet war” it was now a “real war”, which both leaders from France and the United States didn’t want on they’re hands when the gloves were lifted. Another reason how the French-Algerian conflict relates to the War in Iraq is how both Algeria and Iraq use the same style of fighting, Guerilla Warfare. It’s very ironic how the same style or means of battle is used by the same countries which are very far apart from each other. Algeria and Iraq’s attacks never follow a certain schedule, the attacks never take place in one certain area they were through out Algeria and Iraq. Both countries used bombs to get there point across, which to me seemed a very good way of getting that point across. They didn’t want the French there and the Iraqi’s don’t want us in Iraq. The streets are where the means of guerilla warfare seem to take place, the so called “insurgents” used clever devices and tricks to fight off the relentless machinery of the U.S. forces. The battles of Iraq and Algeria were and still are being fought using cleverness, guerilla warfare is this cleverness, and both used their knowledge of their surroundings and people to fight the impossible powers, the United States and the French. The real means behind going to war in Algeria and Iraq are exactly the same, resources! The French wanted Algeria’s resources, that’s one of the reasons why they started the whole war, what’s even more ironic is the other reason why they say they needed to go to war, both leaders of the country gave the same exact reasons, to liberate them. Liberate them!, what is that?, who are we and who are the French to say they need to liberate a country, they were doing just fine without us on there own all the years before. It’s an unjust war, both are, we have no right to go into a country and say “we need to liberate you, you savages.” That’s pre...
