Religion and Science
...for the two are very different. Religions such as Catholics and Anglicans agree with the Australian community and are strongly against the act of euthanasia with it often considered as murder. Their have been a few cases over the years in which anyone involved with intentional killing of a sick family member, friend or patient have gone to jail for murder. Anyone present when the act happens also has the possibility of going to jail for watching a murder without doing anything in their power to prevent it. Although technology and medicine is advancing and more cures are being found, more diseases are arising. Some of these diseases like cancer and Parkinson’s are incurable and the patient dies. A number of doctors assist people who have non-curable diseases and are suffering a way out. By giving the patients lethal injections, pills, etc these doctors believe they are helping the patient rather than harming the patient. This is where religion disagrees with science and the battle begins. Catholics believe that suicide or assisted suicide is a mortal sin that changes the person’s burial rights and their soul goes straight to hell. Science however believes that a person suffering from a disease that will eventually kill them can have their pain and the pain of their family ended. In this new technological and scientific age the role of religion is still unknown. One thing that is known is religion will fight issues like euthanasia, cloning, stem cell research and eugenics to its grave. The reason why is moral ethics. The difference between right and wrong is becoming unclear and religion is struggling to keep these ethical boundaries up and running because without them the world would be in chaos. Religion also fears that if euthanasia became legal the amount of involuntary euthanasia case would increase. Doctors may not stick to their morals and ethics but be seduced by the money and subsequently end lives...
