...ue striving to be the best. I know that often members get discouraged and disheartened with JROTC. Positive motivation can reduce this negative feeling. When a struggling person receives reassurance and support they will not only feel better they will try harder. Knowing that you are apart of a team who values you, helps to create a sense of duty, loyalty, and pride. I want to bring back the sense of camaraderie that I felt freshman year. I feel the reason the junior class is so large is due to their experiences in their freshman year. While learning we felt the sense of belonging and teamwork. The BC and staff made us feel important and valued. I would make certain that the staff realized the importance of this. Members will “stretch” themselves farther when they feel a true sense of being an important member of a team. A team is only as strong as its weakest member. I know what it is like to personally challenge myself. In 4th grade, I was told by a teacher that I would never accomplish anything, at the time I was struggling with reading and writing. I knew that only I could change this perception of myself. I focused on doing whatever was needed to help myself learn and succeed. I realized that having a positive self esteem and believing in myself would help me accomplish my goals. I have had to push myself harder to accomplish my goals. JROTC has been a big motivator for me. The support that I have received from my friends encouraged me to try activities I would never have done before. Raiders are physically and mentally demanding.
