He gave all his time in creating a small business called Microsoft. “After dropping out of Harvard Gates created the first basic operating language for the computer” (About.com). Today it is on almost every single computer in the world used by almost everyone in the world. The first small computer was called the Altair. When this computer came out there were no programs written for it yet. Bill Jumped right on top and started to create something for this computer. He contacted the company of Altair and wanted to sell the Basic program that they created. Bill Gates and Paul Allen were very successful in writing this program. From that time where bill successfully created this program, it had changed his life drastically. He made his dream come true that he would make twenty-five million dollars at the age of twenty-five. Bill Gates created many different software programs. He created Games like Motocross Madness and many other sport games. He also created software which people use almost everyday, like Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel spread sheet. Bill also created Windows, used on computers as an operating system. He also invented a program that is called Turbo Tax that helps people with their taxes. He tried to make software affordable for everyone to buy. He also keeps on improving his software every year. “Under gates leadership, Microsoft’s mission has been to continually, advance and improve software technology and to make it easier and more cost effective and more enjoyable for people to use computers” (Microsoft.com). As Bill Gates says “your most unhappy customers are the greatest source of learning” (About.com). He admits he takes that information and learns from it. This only helps him to be better at what he is doing. Bill Gates has the largest company to date in the world. According to Forbes list of the wealthiest people he has come in to first place from 1996 making 18.5 billion dollars, in 1997 making 36.4 billion dollars, in 1998 making 51 billion dollars, in 1999 making 90 billion dollars, in 2000 making 60 billion dollars, in 2001 making 58.7 billion dollars, in 2002 making 52.8 billion dollars, in 2003 making 40.7 billion dollars, and in 2004 making 46.6 billion dollars.
