The Tigris and the Euphrates rivers also had yearly floods but they were less predictable and they either did not come or were extremely violent and this killed many people. With the floods being unpredictable agriculture was not as flourishing along the Tigris and Euphrates as it was along the Nile. The rivers and their conditions also had an effect on the different religions of the civilizations. Because the Nile River ensured bountiful agriculture and had wonderful conditions, compared to the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, the Egyptians had a very positive religion and believed in a peaceful life after death. The Mesopotamian religions were generally negative, they believed that the gods hated them and after life everyone basically went to hell. The accessibility of these rivers impacted how long the civilizations lasted.
