That means that for now, you and your family are able to live here without any troubles.” Walter: “I wish that this would be true but I know that me and my family will never be able to live in peace in this white neighborhood. Thank you Mr. Anderson” (Walter walks away with his head held up high, leaving Mr. Anderson who is still wondering what Walter meant by his last remark. Walter reaches the door and waves good bye to Mr. Anderson and steps inside to a room full of light with laughter and joys. As soon as Walter enters the house Mama grabs him and runs over to Beneatha.) Mama: “Look your brother his here now, the whole family is together. So now tell us that big important news that you have. Common now, hurry up.” Beneatha: “I will mama when you give me a chance to. Well… everybody already knows that I will become a doctor very soon and well…” Mama: “Common now. Spit it out.” Ruth: “Let the girl talk Lena. Let her say what she has too. Common Beneatha, tell everybody the big news.” Beneatha: “Well I am sure that you all know about Asagia asking me to marry him and move to Africa. (Everyone goes quite for a second)….. well I wanted to tell everyone that I have finally decided that I will move to Africa with Asagia and practice medicine there.” (Everyone’s faces go blank, except Asagia and Beneatha. They were very happy and were waiting for someone to say something, and then Mama spoke at last) Mama: “I... I don’t know what to say. (Mama still had a blank look and her face and then a slow smile came across her) Well this is some very great news. My baby is going to get married, but…” Beneatha: “I know that it is very far away but I think that it is what I am meant to do, I promise to visit every year during the holidays and come whenever I can. I will write everyday.” (There was another silence, but this one lasted. No one spoke for a while, until Walter stood up and called Ruth to go check up on the baby. This led to a chain of events as everyone soon stood up and decided that it was time for bed. Everybody hastily headed out to there room, and once again there was silence… A week has gone by and Mama, Beneatha and Ruth are in the front yard working on the garden....
