The main example is when they find the crippled steamboat in Chapter 12. On this boat two men are found threatening a third who is tied up. Jim is slightly afraid and does not want to board the wreck but Huck is curious and they both fulfill his need to explore it. This is a suspenseful and exciting moment as they could be captured at any time. "there aint a minute to lose. They re after us!" shows the stress and excitement of the characters at this point in the novel. This particular adventure can contribute to the success of the journey because the characters are exposed to suspense and excitement. Feelings of Suspense and Excitement can be enjoyable eg: Christmas but can also be unpleasant eg: Scary Movies. This is what happens in this part of the book when they are eluding capture. On one hand they are scared of being captured but on the other they are excited and enthused from the thrill of the escape. Another way that success of a journey can be determined is by the journey itself. (ie, places visited, travel). Huckelberry Finn is a great example of his lesson. The whole story of the book is about Huck and his comrades traveling along the mississippi river and the adventures they are subjected to. They go to many different places along the way, some examples are: Miss Watsons Jacksons Island The Grangerfords and Paps Hut in the woods Even the floating on the river for most of the book is a form of travel.
