...al politician’s wife. John was raised by a very hard-working, encouraging father who always taught the boys of the family win at everything that they tried. He often competed with his younger brother Robert who also believed he would become president of the U.S., yet he would continue to be by his side during John’s administration as president. JFK was always a favorite of the press, never had too many problems, his life and personal scandals were always being watched and it was a common interest in all Americans. Even though some newspapers treated him kindly, the media could not mind their business. I think he was liked by the media, because he often gave them what they wanted, his honesty which would surprise many but his true personality is what brought him fame. He had an easy going style which caught reporters and watchers at home. Being part of a Democratic Political party he was socially enhanced and had many connections from his past from his parents. On January 20, 1961, John F. Kennedy becomes the 35th president of the U.S. at age 43. As his first year in office went by, he wanted to promote Civil Rights legislation, stimulate the American economy and achieve anti- Communism, because after WWII he promised to move the country going again. Shortly after his inauguration, Kennedy’s goal was to overthrow Cuban leader, Fidel Castro, but that failed. In Europe, the Soviet Union was seeking to spread communism but had relaxed for a while until a major crisis would be on its way. The big issue erupting here was that now, the Russians wanted to install nuclear missiles in Cuba. When American spies discovered this in October, 1962, Kennedy demanded for an act of isolation on all weapons from Cuba. As the Cuban Missile Crisis gained more and more fame and spread, the world waited silently as they were on edge of a nuclear war. In 1963, the test ban treaty ended all this chaos as Kennedy tried to stop both sides in using nuclear weapons. This accomplishment progressed Kennedy’s goal of a “world of law and free choice”. JFK was loved by many because not only of his actions but by his words. If he were to show up anywhere attention would be immediately focused on him, not just for being president but just his own individual. Many appreciated what he did for this country, he changed lives, he promoted civil equality amongst others and stopped us from going to a nuclear war. He also may have been envied by many because of his success. Some thought he was “too good” or may have been fake, that because he was so different in being young and everything he didn’t know what he was doing.
