During this time, five colonies that were being left out were the southwest states which are California, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Utah and Colorado. This war began a social revolt that soon evolved into a counter-revolution. In a way the Mexicans were fighting a middle class war. The Mexican Independence Movement destroyed the economics, politics and the social aspects of the Mexican society. This breakdown of society caused regionalism. That means one’s state’s own rights, this just resulted in a lack of control. The government went through several changes of governmental of governmental systems that all failed except for dictatorship.
