However it has said that Puerto Rican of New York made it popular throughout the world. Salsa means “sauce” and its name refers to the sauce that gets the parties started. It was played in New York City night clubs in the years following World War II. The Puerto Ricans of New York have added many new instruments to make Salsa versatile and more exciting. It was also changed so that people who dance to Mambo and many other Latin styles of music would be able to feel the rhythm of the beat in a similar way. El Gran Combo is a Puerto Rican Salsa music orchestra which is one of the most famous groups of Salsa music. They are internationally known throughout the Latin countries and many legendary singers have been a part of the orchestra. They released over 20 albums and received many awards for them. Tito Puente was one of the many people to help bring this type of music to where it stands today. Tito was an influential Latin Jazz and Mambo musician.
