...c. they weren’t just doing their mere duties as housewives and taking care of the kids. During that time the demand for women had grown tremendously. However, once the war was over and the men came back, the women were expected to leave the workforce and go back into being a “normal” housewife. Why was this so? Doesn’t this show that women overtime were used only for a specific purpose and then towed away? Hasidic women are expected to learn just a minimal amount of the Torah and religion. However, men are supposed to know more than women because they supposedly have a stronger bond with God. Why are Hasidic women only supposed to know such a minimal amount of information about their religion such as holidays? Is it because she is expected to cook meals for these special occasions and teach her children the little but she knows? As of today, women’s role in most third world countries is still to be good housewives. Therefore, they are only taught how to cook and raise a child and keep her husband happy. She is not allowed to pursue a higher education like the men. She is not allowed to have her own identity. All this is because women are NOT NEEDED to take up any other roles, these are leftovers that men have no need to take part in. Shaping a woman’s role in terms of need just doesn’t end there.
