History and Current Situation of the Maquiladoras

As American’s we generally take over freedoms for granted, we even feel violated when toxic facilities are located near our homes and seek to take action to prevent or remove the facility. But these toxic facilities must go somewhere as they provide many products that we use on a daily basis. The term not in my back yard is seen throught America as we generally expect a certain quality of our life. But our attitudes and policies made by our government have shifted these facilities out of our view and for the most part out of our mind. These policies and attitudes have fueled the growth of the Maquiladora industry. The Maquiladora industry takes advantage of poor nations and poor people who can bairly make enough money to feel their family non the less cloth them. In these poor nations basic human rights are neglected and environmental laws are frequently broken and bairly enforced. It is my belief that our US coorperations have fueled the decline in our national employment rate that we are currently experiencing in the US.
