obesity
...dited newspaper on Tuesday September 20, 2005 science times section, I had a few concerns and comments. First I understand the message that is being sent out as far as the TV Ads but I just don't agree with the delivery of this message in that your focus is on how an ad has an influence on what we eat but u also forgot to mention that obesity can be genetic and that personal management is key in controlling this disease. You message is clear and concise but it can be taken the wrong way although you do encourage “energetic behavior” your main focus is on the idea that people eat in front of the television or they are being tempted due to the ads that are brought forward on T.V. I believe that you should have a follow up article correlating T.V. ads and genetic factors all relating to the rise or decrease in obesity but just making it aware that there are other reason why we become obese. In the effort people wont just take your article in the wrong way in that someone might take it in the manner of if they stopped looking at T.V would that prevent them from facing obesity. I think it would be a great approach if you incorporated some type of intervention or some alternative ways a person can go about fight obesity. It seems like they have come from two different worlds, “The Kowalskis and the DuBois have different notions,” and they show it in their speech, attitude and lifestyles. Blanche came from a refined background where she was used to having lots of money and lots of material items. “Look at these feathers and furs that she come here to preen herself in! What’s this here? A solid-gold dress, I believe! And this one! What is these here? Fox pieces! Genuine fox fur-pieces, a half a mile long!” Coming to New Orleans was a change for Blanche; she wasn’t use to the unrefined ways of living. “What are you [Stella] doing in a place like this?” Stanley was used to the common ways of life. Working at the factory, bowling, and poker games were his way of life. He does not care that he did not have a distinguished lifestyle “That girl call me common!” Because Stanley did not grow up the same way that Blanc...
