Also known as a college city, studying in Philadelphia will give me the opportunity to meet students from different universities too. Moreover, my familiarity with the British and the American educational systems will aid me in offering a different perspective to the classroom environment. Having grown up in a cosmopolitan city like Jakarta, I would find it challenging to adjust to life in the suburbs and thus Villanova’s location in dynamic Philadelphia is an added benefit for me. Philadelphia is expanding as a modern business center and it will be possible for me to seek new opportunities after graduating from Villanova. My aspiration to study Economics at an advanced level has stemmed from my lasting interest in current affairs and world development. These issues require an application of Economics in real life situations and can be related to many diverse subjects especially management. I am most intrigued by macroeconomics and trade theory, because of their international relevance and degree of complexity. My choice of IB Higher Level Economics in high school helps consolidate and support my desired degree choice. Economics serves as an introduction to the fundamental role of economic theory in governing the choices of society. Economics is a rigorous discipline to which I find myself intensely attracted. I enjoy this, as it looks at the subject in a practical sense rather than simply theory.
