Memory workshop
The first part of the workshop covered the importance of comprehensive listening skills which was the Name Game. All of us, in the workshop, introduced ourselves and said what we liked to do. We had to listen very carefully to memorize what people said ahead of us. With conscientious and attentive listening, most of us were able to remember the names of other participants and their interest. By this game, we learned about the power of our memory when we listen actively. This simple game proved to us that if we listen carefully, we can obtain, retain, and remember more information. In the workshop, we also learned that listening is an active process. We were introduced to a Chinese symbol which indicated that we listen with our ears, eyes, and heart. The symbol represents the wholeness of an active listening. It shows that, in order to actively listen, we must use both ears, watch and maintain eye contact, give entire attention, and finally be empathetic.
