Learning From Fiction

Fiction can be a source of knowledge. Fictional novels are often examples of events, even if the it's storyline isn't true. Summer of My German Soldier by Bette Green is an example of a fiction novel that the reader can learn from. This novel shows differences between life today and during World War II. It also teaches about racism and World War II. Summer of My German Soldier teaches many differences between life today and life during World War II. At that time, the value of the dollar was greater. When Patty goes to the marketplace to look at food, she sees a sign reading: "Plate Lunch $. 025. Meat & 3 Vegs" (15).
