The management and leadership of Google
The following paper explores the unique management and leadership strategies of Google. As with its technology, Google chose to ignore standard wisdom in designing its business. Researching the development of Google is like taking a trip to wonderland. You think you understand the process, but your not quite sure and there are a lot of gray areas. Google started in 1995 with two young students majoring in computer science from Stanford University, Larry Page and Sergey Brin. It was originally called “Backrub. ” Backrub operated on Stanford servers for more than a year eventually taking up to much bandwidth to suit the university. In 1997, Larry and Sergey decided their company needed a new name and so it was called “Google. ” The word was taken from the word “googol” which is a mathematical term for the number 1 followed by 100 zeros. Their mission was to organize an infinite amount of information on the web.
