Slumdog to SlumGod!

Slumdog nearly slogged all the awards at the 81st Annual Academy Awards or The Oscars, as they call them. It won The Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Sound Mixing, Best Film Editing, Best Original Score, and Best Original Song (two songs were nominated from the film; "Jai Ho" won the award), losing only Best Sound Editing to The Dark Knight. It is only the eighth film ever to win eight Academy Awards. Laurels and glories were heaped in a pile and crowned upon its head. Other great awards such as the BAFTA and the Golden Globes were also given to it. It took the audiences hearts’ as well grossing a total of more than $189,424,479. The technical aspects of the film were magnificent and it was breathtakingly amazing. The cinematography was amazing capturing everything; from the extensively rich Taj Mahal to the poverty struck slums of Mumbai. It was all captured and very well presented on screen, though some thought it was just that some westerner liked the idea of presenting Indians as poor and naked, homeless and grieved with all the woes in the world to worry about and give the western world a derogatory projection of us Indians. On the other hand some also said that Danny Boyle had taken India’s story to the rest of the world and presented it truthfully to the world and it was high time people would accept this bitter truth.
