Enclosure Acts
Were the Enclosure Acts good for England? This is a question many historians and economists have pondered over for years. In my opinion I think the Enclosure Acts were a good thing for England, as they led to England’s eventual booming economy. The Enclosure Acts were the first major step that England took in changing from a small rural farming country to a worldwide super power. It may seem like it was a rather simple act, just allotting land to people, but in doing this it changed the entire way England functioned. The Enclosure Acts led to the end of small town village communities and the beginning of booming factories and metropolises. This act would, in itself almost be the entire driving force for the Industrial Revolution. The Enclosure Acts were a large part of what led to the Agricultural revolution, which was, in part, what led to the Industrial revolution. Farmers owning their own land allowed them to become more successful at producing both crops, and animals. Techniques such as crop rotation would start to be used along with the breading techniques that produced healthier and longer living animals.
