Landscapes

The artists have very differing backgrounds, origins, and ideology. This all reflects in their emotions and styles of their paintings. Thomas Cole was sitting on a mountain side after a thunderstorm in Massachusetts 1836. The view through his eyes became (The oxbow). It made me think the storm was on its way to pending doom. You can barely see the romantic period coming through, the way he symbolized and idealized the scenery. (Burns 1) This is the way Cole thought he was obsessed with the darker side of things. There is really no wonder he had that in the back of his mind thinking about all the turmoil the infant country of the United States had been through in the last years. Cole arrived in the US in 1818; He was the son of an unsuccessful merchant Muslim father. His father must have played a big role in Cole’s ways of gloom and doom.
