M.C Escher
C Escher as the focus of this assignment because of how he has inspired me. Two years ago a teacher tried to convince me in to taking Art as a subject but I dismissed the recommendation explaining that I could not draw. However, after looking through a book of M. C Escher’s art I changed my mind. Even though most of his art is far from simple, he did create many amazing pieces with simple tessellations and geometrical shapes. I decided that if Escher could create art, that would still inspire people centuries later, with relatively simple designs then maybe I was capable of creating art. The other reason that I have chosen Escher for this thesis is because of his unique ability - which I mention later- and his natural brilliance especially portrayed by the mathematical principles exhibited in his art. Escher is one of my favourite artists and I love his work. History Maurits Cornelius Escher (1898 – 1972) was a Dutch artist who is now world famous for his mathematically inspired art. Escher was a sick child and failed second grade in a special school.
