Hey Ram- An aesthetic Indian film
. The lighting and sets complement each other helping the composition of the frame very artistically appealing . The costumes, on the other hand are emblematic of the era . The fact that Sarika Kamal Hassan actually acquired the real fabric materials used in those days to stitch costumes for the characters shows how much work went into modeling each character in the movie . The music scored by Maestro Ilayaraja is truly like the beat of a heart-it’s present but you just can’t take notice . The way it gels with the emotions portrayed in the scene is very beautiful . Even the loud title song seems mellifluous thanks to the way the emotion on screen is reflected in the music . The one major drawback that hindered the understanding of a common man was the absence of subtitles . The languages that we hear in the film space- Tamil, Hindi, Urdu, English, Bengali, Marathi- the Tamil audience who are not familiar with North Indian languages get annoyed at their lack of comprehension . Despite its flaws, I believe that it is a great work of art .
