Road to Perdition- Symbolism in Death

. That being said, I feel that the violence in the movie and the water shows that Sullivan wants to save his son from following in his footsteps . We are not pointed to the deaths themselves but to the aftermath of the deaths and more importantly the non-corruption in Michael as Sullivan tries to prevent him from following the road to hell, which he himself is already trapped on . The relationship of father and son is the key element to take from the movie . As seen in the end of the movie, even though Sullivan dies, he dies with the comfort that he made of saved his son from following the road to Perdition (Hell) . The two times I watched this movie in the past week were the first . I was amazed at the attention to detail of trying to capture the dark times of the mob world and the similarities in every death in the movie . I felt much attached to the characters and their struggles . I also thought it was ironic that Sullivan’s wife and younger son were killed in a bathroom and that Connor fell to the same fate . I saw many more things I could write about but I felt that with the deaths being so interconnected to Sullivan trying to protect his son it was the most important thing to discuss .
