history of the dead
The Brief History of the Dead is a very unique book. It is a difficult book to understand if the reader is not following the plot because if jumps from one story to another and from one character to another. I would give this book 4 out of 10. I give it a 4 because it was a little much with all the unnecessary stories that Brockmeir put in. The story started out in a City that Brockmeir made up. The city is basically a place for the dead to go when they die, but do not cross over in to the next life. The people who have died will stay in the city as long as someone remembers them. The book does not follow the mainstream of other books. In an interview Lynn Carey asked Brockmeir said, “I was very careful not to tell the readers what might happen after the last page. ” Most mainstream books usually tell you what happens at the end to leave you satisfied with the book.
