The Alchemist

The Alchemist guides the boy to realize what his Personal Legend really is. The setting of the book is the region of Andalusia, a small town in Egypt called Tarifa Tanger, and an oasis in the Sahara desert called Al-Fayoum and final an area in the desert near the pyramids. The book is about a shepherd that is traveling across the region of Andalusia in search of a girl he had met in previous years. On his journey he stops at an abandoned church with a sycamore tree growing through it for the night and there he had a dream that he had already had, but the just can’t seem to finish. So he reaches a town the next day, there he met a gypsy that read his palms and tells him that he needs to go to Egypt to find treasure. Later that day boy meets a man in the plaza of the town the boy is hesitant to talk to but he does anyway. The old man informs the boy about his dreams and tells him about Personal Legends, and for him to pursue his which is that to go to Egypt and find his treasure. The next day the boy sells his sheep and buys a ticket to Egypt. Once in Egypt he is robbed and loses all of his money and doesn’t have anywhere to go because he’s in a different country and doesn’t know anyone. The boy meets a crystal merchant that takes him in and gives him a job in his shop and teaches to never give up on his dreams.
