“The Power of One” is a film set at South Africa during a time when the British people controlled the lands. “The Power of One” has many themes focused around power. One of these themes is Personal Power. Personal power is the ability for a person to harness their ability to achieve an outcome either as an individual. Personal power is enhanced through the use of excellent cinematography and sound. We can see that visual effects are used through out the entire film “The Power of One,” combined with sound and the language and voices; the film comes alive with lots of powerful scenes which creates the theme of personal power. Visual effects are effectively used to enhance the theme of personal power, through the use of camera angles, camera work and camera techniques. ... Jaapie Botha’s personal power is seen when he confronts PK in the locker rooms and is standing above PK with his friends behind him to enforce his personal power. ... The scene when PK buried the chicken that Dabula Manzi the “medicine man” gave him when he was able to face his fears of the elephant shows PK’s personal power diminishing.
