The early movie industry was extremely successful because it was more of a monopoly than an independent system as it is today. Actors and actresses had strict contracts with fixed salaries and in reality were told what they had to do. With advancements in technology the movie industry has undergone significant change. Some of the basic production companies are still around and many processes of film making are the same. I believe that even today the industry has a solid grasp on the movie goers, in the small town I lived in a movie costs 8.00. It is not that people have stopped going, the inventions such as DVD, Blockbuster and the quick in and out of the showing time has given the appearance that not many people are going to see movies. I do not believe that the actors are held to such strict ideals as they were in the past. I do believe that the fashion industry and the movie industry go hand in hand. Looking good in public might help you fit the part of having money. It’s always good to see the actors be them self’s, people today have a hard time distinguishing that they are acting. Many think what they see on the big screen is “in” or the “new thing”. I strongly feel that society shapes who we are. You might think that you are an individual that listens to country music, when you are seen as a cowboy. It’s more of a generalization than a stereotype.
