During the industrial revolution in England, the worker was kept just like a slave, unable to enjoy any kind of comfort or luxury, forced to work long and hard within the forbidding walls of prison like factories. ... The worker has but “thirty minutes allowed for eating and recreation”(p391). ... The well being of a worker in Yorkshire was not even considered: “the boards on which you lately toiled and wasted life away, are instantly supplied with other victims,”(p391). The worker would simply be replaced once he could no longer work, like an old, rusted part of a large machine. ... When the aspects of the workers’ lives are pulled together, it presents a picture that denotes that the life of a worker was just as terrible as a slave’s.
