In the past, women had extremely struggled because they were treated like unimportant by men. Most of them were uneducated and only knew how to manage housework. The Story “The Color Purple”, is written by Alice Walker. In this story, several women were extremely treated badly by men. Their experiences were considered as no value because they were always considering in lower level to them. In this movie, there is much discrimination against women, that could be seen when Celie’s gets abused by her stepfather Alphonso, when her stepfather sells her to Albert, and when her sister Nettie comes to live with her. When she was only a little girl, her stepfather sexually abused her.
